This Sunday I will be addressing something that affects all of our lives in a very significant way. I am going to look at why we believe what we believe?  In my years of bible study I have found it extremely important to question why I believe certain things. Where did my beliefs come from? What evidence supports my beliefs? What is my source of information, and what is the source of that source? As I continue to question and seek God’s truth in all things, I continue to uncover new evidence and understanding that has shifted some of my views and beliefs on certain topics. Sometimes, I’m simply blown away at what I have uncovered.

We need to understand this issue thoroughly before I get into some of the more volatile questions that I am receiving from some of you. I have learned that seeking truth without an agenda is many times easier said than done because we all have agenda’s. Some of the most volatile issues in the church today are agenda driven more so than truth driven. If truth becomes the agenda, then no matter the topic, we should be able to come together and learn to work together with the goal being understanding God’s truth.

That being said, we have our work cut out for us. I promise this will be an interesting journey for all of us. Bring a friend, a family member. I intend this year to be a new era of awakening to all who want to come along for this journey. Hope to see you this Sunday at 10:30am. 800 North Main Street, Edwardsville. We meet in the Immanuel United Methodist Church.
