There is power available to the Christian who prays and it is a power that can sometime be felt by others. Let me tell you what happened today.

This afternoon I did a hospital visit to see someone who I haven’t seen or talked to in a long time. So on my way to their room from the parking garage, which was quite a walk, I began to pray, “God, fill me with your Holy Spirit so I know what to say to this person. Fill me with your wisdom and help me to be a blessing to anyone you send to me!”  It was simple prayer but it was heart felt and I certainly meant it. So as I entered the lobby of the hospital to find the reception desk I saw a woman at the desk looking right at me as I walked toward her. Before I could say a thing she said to me, “You are a pastor aren’t you?” Now you all know how I dress, which is very casual. As a matter of fact I had on jeans and a casual shirt so there was nothing about my dress that would have indicated me being a pastor in any way shape or form. I smiled and said, “Yes ma’am as a matter of fact I am. I was kind of surprised by her remark. She said, “I felt the Spirit of God the moment you walked in that door” as she looked at me with a big smile while taking my hand. It was a very surreal experience. This woman had no idea who I was except the fact that she felt the Spirit of God come over her when I walked in. She went on to tell me that I had just blessed her even though I hadn’t done anything. She began telling me that she had just lost her husband this past year and how she was now feeling uplifted. Only God and the power of the Holy Spirit can do such things through us! It’s amazing!

So why am I sharing this with you? Because God is real, His Spirit is real! Jesus is real! AND we have the opportunity to access that power through prayer. As you all know I am not any different than any one of you reading this. I prayed a sincere prayer and believed God would somehow help me with my hospital visit and then this happened. And I did have a wonderful visit with a good friend from long ago, Hershel Prater. Some of you may remember having him as your Junior High art teacher. Listen, don’t wait another minute or another hour. Re-prioritize your life, make God and His word the center of all things and watch and see what happens. There are people everywhere you go who need this life changing power. Plug in and become a disciple today! It’s amazing.

John 13:35  “ By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

PCF will not meet this Sunday. I will see you all soon. Love, pastor kent
