There are many powerful statements of truth in the bible. But one that stands out to me is “Then you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free!” This statement is found in the book of John, 8th chapter. There are many things that can derail our Christian walk but one of the things we must all be very aware of is when begin making seeking the praises of men more important than pleasing God. When we learn to put God first in all things, we will begin understanding the freedom God offers us. Pleasing man is fickle. They love us one day and hate us the next. If we begin dancing and conforming our life to please men over pleasing God, we will find ourselves going down paths that will certainly lead us away from God’s freedom into a circle of man’s bondage. Your highest calling, your deepest peace, and your greatest joy will always be found by pleasing God and following His direction even if it means making some people angry, disappointed, or unhappy.
