Just a reminder that our next meeting will be next Sunday August 4th at 9:00am at Glik Park.

Yesterday I spent time with my father-in-law Henry Burns and as is customary when we meet, we began talking about the bible. Henry told me an interesting story about his uncle that I want to share with you this morning. Some years ago Henry said he got a call that his uncle was nearing the end of his life so he decided to go see him one last time. His uncle had never spoken anything about God or Jesus or faith so Henry decided to try and talk with him about Jesus’ saving grace. When Henry was finished speaking to him his uncle shook his head and said, “No, I can’t do that (ask Jesus to forgive me) because it just wouldn’t be right!”  He said that he never dod one thing for Jesus or God his entire life and it just wouldn’t be right to go to him now as a dying man. Henry said let me tell you a story.  “When Jesus was crucified he was hung between two criminals and these two men began taunting Jesus to come down off the cross if He was really the son of God. Finally one of the criminals said to the other, “Leave this man alone, for he has done nothing to deserve this punishment but you and I, we deserve this penalty. The thief that had decided to stand up for Jesus then turned to Jesus and said, “Rabi, remember me when you come into your Kingdom!! and Jesus looked at him and said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise!”

Here we have a very sinful man in his last hours of life turning to Jesus and asking to be remembered. The thief had lived his entire life without God doing as he pleased and yet in his last moments of life he found Jesus, the savior of the world, and repented. Jesus accepted him and promised him that he too would join him in paradise.

Henry said as he finished this story that his uncle had tears in his eyes and in that story understood the saving grace of Jesus! God’s words are life changing here and now and for eternity. It’s for everyone! Repent and be saved and if you have been saved remember to share your faith with others. Blessings!

See you next Sunday,! Love pastor Kent
