I read many books every year of which 95% of them have to do with Christianity and religion. Most of the time I am reading ideas that I have read many times in the past but every once in a while I will come across a great idea or thought that really rings a bell with me.  What I am going to share with you has much to do with this scripture:

Proverbs 11:14.

“14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall;
But in the multitude of counselors there is safety!”

I was researching this Question on the internet, “How do I know if I’m in God’s will?”  There are many answers to this question, again most of which I have read before and unfortunately many of the answers I found were dull, uninspired, and really not very much of an answer at all. But then I came across an article, which had no author listed by the way, or I would give them credit but the author said something that really spoke to me.  The author said, “If you want to deepen your Christian walk, you need to find several people, you can trust and count on to be your spiritual mentors in your life. I like that idea. It was interesting to note that the author of this article said that most people are deeply influenced by a circle of five people in their life when it comes to making major life decisions. Now I don’t know how true that is but I do agree that we all must be aware of where our posse is leading us. When it comes to making some of life’s most important decisions who are we currently allowing to influence those decisions? Are they people of faith?

I think this idea is awesome and can be a game changer as far as our Christian walk is concerned. You may not currently know these people that well. That’s ok as long as you feel they are they type of person that is walking with God and would be a good listener. As your relationship develops, you never know how God will speak through you and your mentors. I am at the point in my life where I know that I need others perspective on the things of God. I hope you will seriously consider this.  And, when you finally choose the persons that you would like to have in your Spiritual mentoring circle, approach them and ask if they would do you the honor of being that Spiritual person in your life. Obviously it can work both ways. I would think many people would find this to be a great honor. And, this is not something that has to be a regular meeting. All you are wanting is a couple of people you can call on to bounce ideas and questions off of when you need direction.

Today in the business world coaching is becoming big business. Many executives and business owners are utilizing coaches to discuss ideas and problems. The coaches are there to listen and help people think through things by offering another perspective. I believe this is exactly what Christians need to be doing much more. I think it would be very healthy to have more people in your spiritual life other than just a pastor talking on Sundays. Give it some prayer and thought. Kick it around. Who knows, you may find some new life changing friends and your spiritual journey could become absolutely amazing!

I will be getting our June meetings out soon. Bonni and I are still looking at the schedule!
